In late November, I took up the theme of what is new in the world of stents (11/23/10-11/25/10). One of the topics was related to a new concept in stenting, that of the absorbable stent. This is a stent that has drug on it which will, after a period of time, absorb and disappear. I commented on the fact that this work is being done outside of the United States although the technology is being developed here in the U.S., and I cited it as another example of our “outsourcing” our research to anywhere but here.
